The Origin of the Biewer Yorkie,
Roman Empire Yorkie and Elite Yorkie and Biewers
The Biewer Yorkshire Terrier was the first recognized parti-colored Yorkie and traces its origins to Germany. In the 1980s, renowned Yorkshire Terrier breeders Mr. and Mrs. Biewer produced an unexpected litter when two of their champion Yorkies, each carrying a rare recessive piebald gene, were bred together.
The result was remarkable: stunning puppies displaying brilliant white coats accented with black, blue, and gold markings unlike anything typically seen in traditional Yorkshire Terriers. Captivated by their beauty and uniqueness, the Biewers carefully developed these bloodlines, establishing what would become the beloved Biewer Yorkshire Terrier.
Building upon these exceptional bloodlines, Dr. Robin Taylor veterinarian and genetic specialist, spent decades developing the renowned Roman Empire Yorkies program. Through careful selection, she focused not only on rare colors, but also on health, temperament, intelligence, and the deep human connection that has become a hallmark of her dogs.
Today, her son, Mikael Cherry, proudly carries that legacy forward through Elite Yorkies & Biewers. Together, they continue to preserve and refine these remarkable bloodlines, producing companions celebrated for their beauty, loving personalities, and generations of intentional breeding excellence.
