Merle Yorkies for Sale in Florida

Spectacular color. Responsible genetics. Rare companions raised with care.
Merle Yorkies are among the most visually striking rare-color Yorkies in the world. Their coats can display beautiful, random patterns of diluted color, creating soft marbling, dramatic contrast, and extraordinary one-of-a-kind markings. In some Merle Yorkies, the pattern may also influence the nose or eyes, creating partially pink noses, blue flecks, or even bright blue eyes. When a Merle Yorkie has blue in the eyes, the result can be breathtaking. At Elite Yorkies & Biewers, merle is not treated casually. Because this rare pattern must be bred with great care, Dr. Robin Taylor, DVM, approached merle development with the seriousness of a veterinarian, genetic specialist, and lifelong breeder. Her work through Roman Empire Yorkies helped bring forward rare merle variations while preserving the health, temperament, intelligence, structure, and deep human connection these bloodlines are known for. Today, her son, Mikael Cherry, proudly carries that legacy forward through Elite Yorkies & Biewers.

What Is a Merle Yorkie?

Merle is a rare genetic color pattern that creates random areas of diluted pigment throughout the coat. This can produce a marbled or mottled appearance, with lighter patches appearing throughout darker coat colors. Because the pattern appears randomly, no two Merle Yorkies look exactly alike. One puppy may show bold silver and black contrast, another may show soft chocolate marbling, and another may carry the merle pattern in a way that is more subtle or even visually masked. Merle may also affect pigment in the eyes and nose, which is why some Merle Yorkies have partially pink noses, blue flecks in the eyes, one blue eye, or two blue eyes.
responsible breeding

Why Responsible Merle Breeding Matters

Merle is beautiful, but it is also one of the most important rare colors to breed responsibly. When merle is bred carelessly — especially when two merle-patterned dogs are bred together — puppies can be at higher risk for serious health issues, including hearing, vision, and developmental problems. This is why DNA testing and experienced breeding judgment are essential. Dr. Taylor added merle to her program only after years of rare-color experience. Her focus was never simply to produce dramatic markings. Her goal was to develop rare beauty while protecting the health, structure, temperament, and overall quality of the dog. At Elite Yorkies & Biewers, merle is respected as a color pattern that requires knowledge, caution, and care.

Dr. Taylor’s Rare Merle Development

Merle was the final rare color Dr. Taylor added to her breeding program because she understood how carefully it needed to be handled. One of her long-held dreams was to produce a White Gold Dust Merle with two blue eyes — a truly exceptional combination of rare color genetics. It took more than ten years of study, careful planning, investment, and patience, but after merle was thoughtfully introduced into her Gold Dust lines, that dream was finally realized. That very special girl — a Double Blue Diamond White Gold Dust Merle — now lives a wonderful life with a doctor and nurse in Miami, Florida. This is the kind of story that reflects the heart of Elite Yorkies & Biewers: rare beauty developed with deep knowledge, patience, and love.
rare color language

Blue Diamond and Double Blue Diamond Merle Yorkies

Within our rare-color language, a Merle Yorkie with blue in one or both eyes may be referred to as a Blue Diamond Merle. A dog with blue in both eyes may be called a Double Blue Diamond Merle, describing the rare beauty of two blue eyes. This is important: Double Blue Diamond does not mean “double merle.” It refers to eye color, not a merle-to-merle breeding. Responsible merle breeding still requires careful DNA knowledge and should never be approached casually.

Merle Colors and Rare Variations

Merle can appear across many rare-color Yorkie lines. Depending on the base coat color, the pattern may look bold, soft, dramatic, or subtle. Examples include: - Blue Merle Yorkie — often seen in traditional or blue-based coloring- - Black Merle Yorkie — a darker merle expression with no gold - Chocolate Merle Yorkie — warm chocolate coloring with merle dilution - Chocolate Merle, No Gold — dark chocolate merle without gold points - Sable or Ocean Pearl Merle — soft, shifting tones with merle influence - Gold Dust Merle — often visually masked because light coats may not show dark-pigment dilution clearly - White Gold Dust Merle — a rare white-and-gold expression where merle may be confirmed through blue eyes or DNA - Blueberry Merle — a Biewer-based merle expression - Blackberry Merle — a Biewer-based merle with no gold - Chocoberry Merle — a chocolate Biewer-based merle - Chocoberry, No Gold Merle — chocolate and white merle expression without gold Because merle can sometimes be hidden or masked, especially in Gold Dust and White Gold Dust lines, DNA testing is always the most reliable confirmation.

Merle Yorkie FAQs

Still have questions?
We prefer a personal conversation. Reach out and we will be happy to speak with you.
Are Merle Yorkies rare?
Yes. Merle Yorkies are considered a rare color pattern and are not commonly found in ordinary Yorkie breeding programs. The pattern creates random areas of diluted color, giving each puppy a unique appearance.
What causes the merle pattern?
Merle is a genetic color pattern that dilutes pigment in random areas of the coat. It may also influence the eyes or nose, which is why some Merle Yorkies have blue eye color, blue flecks, or partially pink noses.
Are Merle Yorkies healthy?
Merle Yorkies can be healthy when bred responsibly. The concern comes when merle is bred without proper knowledge or testing, especially merle-to-merle breedings. Responsible breeding, DNA testing, and careful selection are essential.
Can two Merle Yorkies be bred together?
Responsible breeders avoid merle-to-merle breeding because of the increased risk of serious health issues in puppies. At Elite Yorkies & Biewers, merle breeding is approached with great care and genetic awareness.
What is a Blue Diamond Merle Yorkie?
A Blue Diamond Merle Yorkie is a rare-color term used for a Merle Yorkie with blue in one or both eyes. If both eyes are blue, the dog may be referred to as a Double Blue Diamond Merle.
Is Double Blue Diamond the same as double merle?
No. Double Blue Diamond describes two blue eyes. It does not mean double merle breeding.
What is a White Gold Dust Merle Yorkie?
A White Gold Dust Merle Yorkie is a rare white-and-gold expression where the merle pattern may be visually subtle or masked. In these cases, blue eyes may suggest merle influence, but DNA testing is the most reliable confirmation.
How do I reserve a Merle Yorkie puppy?
The first step is to contact Elite Yorkies & Biewers to discuss availability, color, expected size, temperament, and fit for your home. Once the right puppy is selected, a reservation deposit may be placed.
